シンガポールに来てから、英語学習の一環として読書をはじめました。
1冊目：The Little Prince 「星の王子様」
2冊目：Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 「チャーリーとチョコレート工場」
3冊目：Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone 「ハリー・ポッターと賢者の石」
（Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator、Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secretsを今後読む予定で購入済み）
シンガポールで本を買う際は、オーチャードエリア高島屋内の、紀伊国屋が便利です。
英語の本はもちろん、日本語・中国語の本などもたくさん置いています。
今回読み終わったのは、おそらくみなさんストーリーはご存知の、「ハリー・ポッターと賢者の石」。
難易度の高さと分厚さで、1ヶ月ほど読み切りにかかってしまいました。
とはいえ、子供のころから好きなハリー・ポッターシリーズ、さすがのおもしろさで最後まで楽しく読むことができました。
「チャーリーとチョコレート工場」も「ハリー・ポッターと賢者の石」も、映画を見てハードルを下げてから読み始めました。
「ハリー・ポッターと賢者の石」はおそらく10年以上ぶりくらいに原作を読んだので、こんな話あったっけ！？と思いながら振り返ることができ、とてもおもしろかったです。
ラスト20ページくらいまでヴォルデモートが姿を現さず、やきもきしてしまいました。
英語の本を読む中で、単語や言い回しなど発見がいくつかあったので、また記事にしてみたいと思います。
I started reading in English since I came to Singapore because I wanted to improve my English skills.
1st book： The Little Prince
2nd book： Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
3rd book： Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

When you buy books in Singapore, Kinokuniya is the most convenient. It’s in Takashimaya, Orchard.
There are many Japanese books and Chinese books, of course, you can buy many kinds of English books.
I’m talking about Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone this time, and everyone surely knows the story. So I skip the summary.
It took me a month because it was difficult for me and thick, but I was finally able to read it.
I love the Harry Potter series since I was a child, and it’s exciting!!
So I was able to read it to the end while having fun.
After watching movies, I started reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
It’s been more than 10 years since I last read the Japanese translation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and there were several parts I didn’t remember.
So I had enjoyed the interesting scenes again.
I felt uneasy because Voldemort didn’t appear until in the last 20 pages. I thought he didn’t appear anymore.
When I was reading English books, there were many words and expressions in English that I have never known.
I’ll write about them someday.
