シンガポールに来る前に心配していたのは、友達もいない、英語もそれほどできない中で引きこもりにならないだろうか…ということでした。
実際、駐在妻ブロガーさんたちのブログを拝見していると、よくあることのようです。
Before coming to Singapore, I was worried that I will stay home all day. Because I had no friends here and my English skill was not good.
In fact, many housewife bloggers living overseas said it’s a common thing.
幸いにも、もともとの友人（現在はすでに帰国済み）や、夫の会社のご家族で来られている方とは仲良くしていただいています。
ですが、せっかく海外で暮らしているんだから外国の友達がほしい！また、日本人の友達の輪も広げたい！
ということで、6月から英会話教室へ通い始めました。
日本人の生徒も何人かいますが、他にもいろんな国籍の人が来ています。
もちろん授業中は英語ですし、長く通っている中で仲良くなった人とは英語でちょっとしたおしゃべりもできるようになりました。
Fortunately, I’m getting along with some people; a friend from high school (she already went back to Japan.) and a family who is my husband’s colleague.
However, since I’ve lived overseas, I really want foreign friends!! And I want to make more Japanese friends!!
Because of that, I started to learn English at a language school this June.
There are some Japanese students and also students from many different countries.
Of course, we have to speak English during the class. I became able to communicate with some students in English.
英会話教室はもちろん英語を学ぶ場であり、そこで身についた知識も大事ですが、一番良かったのは外国人の友達ができたことです。
いまはまだその友達（マレーシア人）に会話を引っ張ってもらっているので、もっと話せるようになりたいな、と思います。
といっても、そもそも日本語で話してもほぼ聞き役なので、性格から変わらないとという気もします…。
An English school is undoubtedly a place learning English. The knowledge I learned is important, but the best thing is that I was able to make foreign friends.
One of my friends from Malaysia always leads the conversation, so I want to speak English more.
Honestly, I’m not a talker even in Japanese, so I need to change my character.
今日はその子とタンジョンパガーの韓国料理屋さんへ行ってきました。
夫とだと韓国料理に挑戦することはまずないと思うので、そういう点でも友達とのご飯は新鮮で楽しいです。
I went to a Korean restaurant at Tanjong Pagar with my Malaysian friend today.
If going with my husband, we absolutely don’t try Korean food. So it was new and exciting to hang out with friends.
