シンガポールに来たときから気になっていた、チャンギ国際空港ターミナル1の巨大複合商業施設「Jewel（ジュエル）」。
巨大な人工滝、その周りを彩る庭園、ショッピングにダイニング…。
チャンギ国際空港は去年まで、ほぼ10年間世界ベスト空港に選ばれ続けていました。
その実力やいかに!?
なんと言っても目玉は、巨大な屋内の人工滝「レイン・ボルテックス」です。

2021年4月に入国したときは、決まったルートを通って入国管理→PCRテスト→バス→隔離ホテルへと連れられるがままに一直線。
ジュエルはスルーせざるを得ませんでした。
今度遊びに来ようと思ってはいたものの、家から距離がある（チャンギ空港はシンガポールの東の端っこ）ので、ずっと足が遠のいていました。
満を持して、ようやくご対面……
できませんでした。
なんと1月4日から1月8日まで工事中とのこと（訪れた日は1月5日）。
そんなピンポイントで滝が停止中の日に来てしまうなんて…。
初詣・おみくじは今年は出来ていませんが、もしかして私の今年の運勢は凶だったのでしょうか。
しかもクリスマスツリーが解体中なのが、余計物悲しい気持ちになります。
…仕方なく、ジュエルの中を散策して帰りました。
個々のお店が広く、ほとんどが2階建てで見応えがあります。
とはいえお店のラインナップは普通のショッピングモールとさして変わらないのが残念なところ。
最上階にはいくつかのアトラクション（有料）があり、何時間居ても飽きないような工夫が凝らされています。
インテリアのこだわりが感じられます。
今回はお目当ての滝が見られず、とても残念でしたが、半年後くらいにもう一度リベンジしたいと思います。

I’ve wanted to go to the Jewel at Changi Airport for a while. It has an extensive artificial waterfall, garden, shopping mall, restaurants. Changi Airport has been chosen the best airport in the world for 10 years.
After all, the highlight is the enormous indoor artificial waterfall “Rain Vortex.” When I entered Singapore in April 2021, I was taken straight to the immigration control → PCR → bus → quarantine hotel through a fixed route. Jewel had to go through. I was thinking of coming next time, but it was too far from my house to come(Changi Airport is on the eastern edge of Singapore). But I finally...could not do it.
Surprisingly, it was under repair from4 Jan to 8 Jan (the day I visited was 5 Jan). I was so sad. I didn’t go to Hatsumode and didn’t do Omikuji this year, but I think my fortune is evil. Moreover, the fact that the Christmas tree is being dismantled makes me sad.
I had no choice but to take a walk at the Jewel. Each shop was large, and most of them were two stories high. However, unfortunately, the lineup of shops is not different from ordinary shopping malls. There’re several attractions on the top floor, not to get bored.
I was very disappointed that I couldn’t see the waterfall I was looking for this time, but I’d like to come again in about half a year.
